Freiman’s Theorem in an Arbitrary Abelian Group
A famous result of Freiman describes the structure of finite sets A ⊆ Z with small doubling property. If |A + A| 6 K|A| then A is contained within a multidimensional arithmetic progression of dimension d(K) and size f(K)|A|. Here we prove an analogous statement valid for subsets of an arbitrary abelian group.
متن کاملAn explicit formula for the number of fuzzy subgroups of a finite abelian $p$-group\ of rank two
Ngcibi, Murali and Makamba [Fuzzy subgroups of rank two abelian$p$-group, Iranian J. of Fuzzy Systems {bf 7} (2010), 149-153]considered the number of fuzzy subgroups of a finite abelian$p$-group $mathbb{Z}_{p^m}times mathbb{Z}_{p^n}$ of rank two, andgave explicit formulas for the cases when $m$ is any positiveinteger and $n=1,2,3$. Even though their method can be used for thecases when $n=4,5,l...
متن کاملHow Abelian is a Finite Group?
A well known theorem of G. A. Miller [4] (see also [2]) shows that a p-group of order p" where n > v(v 1)/2 contains an Abelian subgroup of order p° . It is clear that this theorem together with Sylow's Theorem implies that any finite group of large order contains an Abelian p-group of large order . In this note we use simple number theoretic considerations to make this implication more precise...
متن کاملMatrix embedding in finite abelian group
Matrix embedding (ME) is a well-known steganographic scheme that can improve the embedding efficiency of steganography. In ME, the sender and recipient agree on a matrix in advance, and the message will be embedded into the cover data according to the matrix. In this paper, we propose a general framework for ME based on covering sequence (CS) of finite abelian group. By the proposed approach, t...
متن کاملAn Addition Theorem on the Cyclic Group Zpα qβ
Let n > 1 be a positive integer and p be the smallest prime divisor of n. Let S be a sequence of elements from Zn = Z/nZ of length n + k where k ≥ np − 1. If every element of Zn appears in S at most k times, we prove that there must be a subsequence of S of length n whose sum is zero when n has only two distinct prime divisors.
